Uzbekistan is a beautiful country rich in mysticism and rich history. The architecture is stunning, from the most ornate underground stations in Tashkent, the breathtaking Registan Square in Samarkand, to the remarkably well-preserved and UNESCO Heritage town of Bukhara. It’s hard for us to pick which we liked most. But mosques, madrassahs, minarets, museums, and markets were not just what we went to experience. The culture of the people and the food were equally fascinating and very much an integral part of the fabric of Uzbekistan. The Uzbeks are extremely warm, friendly, and welcoming people. I couldn’t believe the men would give up their seats to women on the subway, even to me. As for the food, well, you have to love meat, though there are less carnivorous options on the menu.
On behalf of my small group from Singapore and Canada, I would like to say a heartfelt thank you to Zulya Rajabova, the mastermind behind Silk Road Treasures Tours, and her wonderful team who ensured that our itinerary went smoothly. Her passion, dedication, and years of experience enabled us to see the country the way it should be seen. Her warm hospitality and smiles are exemplary of the heart of the Uzbek people. A special shoutout to our fabulous guide, Mashura, for her trove of historical knowledge, attentiveness, and her knack for reading her guests quickly and tweaking the itinerary to better suit their preferences. A big thanks to all the Silk Road support team for opening our eyes to a fabulous new destination-Central Asia. Best regards to your lovely and hospitable family, Zulya!
All the very best!
