Day 01 Baku
Arrival in Baku. The local guide will meet you at the airport. Transfer to hotel. Discover the ancient part of Baku City: Icheri Sheher, Maiden Tower, Shirvanshahlar Palace. Visit the handicraft center and meet local artisans. Lunch. Afternoon sightseeing tour: The Temple of Fire Worshippers, Burning Mountain (Yanardagh).
Day 02 Guba
Sightseeing day drive to Guba (2.5 hours.) Explore Guba Mosques, Krasnaya Sloboda(Jewish Settlement), old Turkish bath houses. Accommodation in Guba Hotel.
Day 03 Guba – Khinalig – Bak.
Depart for Khinalig (2 hours). Admire the old streets, neighborhoods, mosques and madressehs of Khinalig. Return to Baku.
DAY 04 Baku – Nakhchivan
Breakfast. Flight to Nakhchivan. Transfer to Hotel. Sightseeing tour of picturesque Nakhchivan city area - Jufa Daridagh Mineral Healing Spring and Asabu Kahf Cave. Photo opportunity.
DAY 05 Nakhchivan – Igdi
Drive to Salt Mountain Mine and Hospital. Visit Garabaghlar village and its people. See 14th century buildings. Leave for Sadarak-Igdir crossing point. Cross the border into Turkey.
Arrive in Igdir towards evening. Transfer to Oz Grand Darya Hotel. Dinner.
DAY 06 Igdir – Kars
Breakfast at the Hotel. Igdir is located on a plain below Mount Agri (Ararat). Sightseeing tour around Igdir to visit the Memorial Museum and Ishak Pasha Palace. Drive to Kars. Transfer to the hotel.
DAY 07 Kars
Explore the traditional sections of Kars and its old Fortress (XII C).
DAY 08 Possof/Turkey-Georgia border-Georgia
Drive to Possof village on the Turkish-Georgian border.
GEORGIAN PART: Possof-Vardzia-Bakuriani. Meet with the local guide. Visit Vardzia rock-hewn complex (XII century).
Picnic en-route. Discover Khertvisi castle (X century). Accommodation at hotel.
DAY 09 Bakuriani – Gori/Uplistsikhe – Mtskheta – Gudauri
Breakfast at hotel. Drive to Tbilisi via the town of Gori and the ancient city of Mtskheta, a UNESCO world heritage site. Excursion to Uplistsikhe, a rock-hewn city dated to 1st millennium BC. Lunch at a local restaurant Gori.
Depart for Mtskheta. Excursion to Svetitskhoveli Cathedral and Samtavro Nunnery (XIC), Jvari Monastery (VI C) at the confluence of rivers Mtkvari (Kura) and Aragvi.
Dinner and overnight in Gudauri.
DAY 10 Gudauri – Kazbegi – Gudauri
Breakfast at hotel. Day trip to explore Kazbegi area on the northern slopes of the Caucasus Mountains. From Kazbegi center take a beautiful 2 hour hike up to the XIV C Gergeti Trinity church.
Explore the fascinating views of Mt. Kazbeg. Lunch at a local family house in Kazbegi. Drive to Gweleti waterfalls for a long, scenic walk to the waterfalls. Depart towards Dariali Canyon and back to Gudauri.
Dinner and overnight in Gudauri.
DAY 11 Gudauri – Tbilisi City Tour
Breakfast at hotel. Drive to Tbilisi, an extraordinary city dating from the 5th century with its turbulent history and Georgian Orthodox traditions. Its elegant monuments have been destroyed and restored throughout the centuries. Lunch at a restaurant in Tbilisi. Visit churches, cathedrals dated from IV to XIII C. and the modern Sameba Cathedral dating from 1995-2004. Dinner at traditional Georgian restaurant.
DAY 12 Tbilisi – David Gareja – Telavi
Breakfast at hotel. Drive east to Kakheti province. Excursion to David Gareja semi-desert area and monastery complex dated to VI C. Visit Lavra and hike up to Udabno towards the natural border between Georgia and Azerbaijan to explore important medieval frescos curved in rock. Picnic lunch close to the site. Depart for Telavi administrative center of Kakheti province. Dinner and overnight in Telavi.
DAY 13 Telavi -Lagodekhi-Sheki
Drive to the border to Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan tour representative will meet you at the border. Lunch in Zagatala/Azerbaijan.
Drive to Sheki. Visit Kish Albanian church and Khan’s House. Overnight at the hotel in Sheki (Kervansaray Hotel)
DAY 14 Sheki – Baku
Breakfast at the hotel. Enjoy free time at Sheki bazaar. Day drive to Shemakha to explore Friday Mosque and Yeddi Gumbez Cemetery. Drive to Baku.
DAY 15 Baku. Departure.
